Hi reetesh,

Choice of testing tool depends on what kind of testing you want to do or what kind of application you are using.

First thing you need to see that whether you are going for Functional testing or Load testing.

Correct me if i am wrong.......

I would say the choice of testing tool depends on the type of testing you wanted to do. For automated testing winrunner is good choice.

Only you can know what type of tool you need as you are the only one who knows what you want to use it for, how much money you have to spend, how your dev team work, what defect tracking tool you have, what skill level your testers have etc etc

Adopting a new tool is not simple. I have a wealth of experience in this and believe me, it takes a lot of time to do it well. I'd suggest you need to do a proof of concept with ALL departments. There is no point in having a great testing tool that does not integrate with the defect tracking tool or the business analysts cannot get access to it.

you need to make a list of all of the things you need it to do from each department and then review each tool in turn. It's not just about price, it's about support, training, upgrades, development methodology support etc.

It's a toough task.

In my opinion, the free tools along with excel are all you will ever need. The expensive tools can often enforce a way of working that is not right for you and your company.

No company, testers, code, product or customer are the same. So how can one UBER product meet all needs. It cannot. Look at what you need, get free tools, write internal tools to plug the gaps and keep it simple.

Rob..
