Job Description
Responsibilities:
The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for developing, validating, and executing software test plans according to the systems development lifecycle, using approved testing tools and techniques.
Essential Functions:
Develop test plans and test cases that, when executed, determine the quality and proper functioning of the software systems being developed
Use the business requirements and technical specifications to develop software test cases
Consult with project teams on the design, testability, and development of test cases
Report status of all testing activities, such as test case development and execution, bug/defect tracking and reporting, integration/ user-acceptance, and regression testing activities
Participate in the defining, managing, and controlling of all necessary test activity required to meet project schedules, milestones, and deadlines
Participate in the identification and reporting of risks and mitigation plans
Create status reports showing test execution progress
Determine production readiness of applications
Develop test automation scripts as needed
Coordinate with other QA Engineers regarding testing assignments
Assist in developing software testing methods and techniques for producing quality software products.
Desired Profile
Experience testing web-based data driven software applications
Ability to create effective test plans and test cases
Ability to prioritize and track defects in a bug tracking software system
Working knowledge of SQL, Java, XML, JavaScript, Web Services and web server technologies
Experience with browser compatibility and Section 508 Compliance testing.
Ability to use Unix-based operating systems
Must have excellent technical writing and communication skills, and strong problem solving skills
