Beta test is a stage that defines who is testing and when the test is occuring in the lifecycle. Generally, it is performed by non-QA professionals after formal system testing, but before a full release to production.

Usability testing is a type of testing with a specific focus in mind. It looks for problems specific to the use of the system, as oppossed to security issues, functional issues, performance issues, configuration issues (although there arguably is overlap between many of these emphasises.)

usability testing comes under beta testing. In Usabilty testing, It checks the it is easy to handle means everything is there button, tabs etc, good graphical interface and user understandable and in beta testing customers or client test the major functonalities  and checkpoints at there own place.
