Hi
I
have to test web application for performance , can it be done manually
and how ? if not what tools are available for performance testing of
web applications.

I used to test websites and we tested manually and automated. We would
have everyone, developers, business analysts, dba's etc get on the site
and place orders to see how it would handle it. If you don't have a lot
of people, I'd say automated is the way to go. We actually would
combine at times manual and auto to really push the website to the
limit. As for tools, there are plenty of automated forums on here that
would give you an idea of what tool might be best.

For performance testing doing manual it takes time and money. Many people like developers, database administrators and systems are required. It's better to do automatically, there are many tools for automation like webload, loadrunner,etc
