Designation: Technical Writer

Job Description
Responsible for supporting the documentation requirements on QUALCOMM's growing product portfolio that includes ASICs for CDMA 1x, 1x-EVDO, WCDMA/GSM/GPRS/GPS, and position location. Assist Engineers in documenting technical documents including datasheets ; technical notes; training material etc. Produce quality end-user documentation and help manage Qualcomm's Intellectual Property.

Support hardware engineers by writing, formatting, editing, and releasing highly technical documents such as user guides, tutorials, design specifications, presentations, etc.

Assist ongoing documentation projects and various other projects as necessary.

Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills are a must. Ability to lead and manage projects independently necessary. Desired Profile Good English communication (writing) skills

Minimum 2 years of experience creating end-user documents in a high-tech technical publications environment

Ability to design and develop technical information in a well-structured manner: concise, easy-to-use, etc.

Skilled in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

Experience with Adobe Frame Maker

Familiar with Adobe Acrobat

Familiar with graphics packages

Basic understanding of command line interfaces (either DOS or UNIX)

Basic understanding of computer architecture

Basic understanding of C and assembly language

Basic understanding of HTML design (for creating online documentation)

Additional Skills:

* Experience using CVS version control system

* Experience using UNIX makefiles and shell scripts

* Experience using Webworks Publisher for FrameMaker

* Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Visio skills a plus

* Quick learner

* Team player

* Experience with XML and DITA standards
