Unfortunately, the tutorial documentation is very web oriented, on the assumption that

*everyone* is building some sort of web application for selling widgets to w**kers.

We test an engineering application. Straight windows. The easiest way to get started on

this or a .net project is this:

1) Go through your test plan manually with QTP up.
When you encounter a new dialog, add all objects on the page. Using the Object Repository

"Add Objects" button.

2) Choose "Record on any open windows application" when you start. You can clean up later.

3) Only after doing this, record your test, including checkpoints. It's far more likely to

be successful.
