What is a Requirement?

A requirement is a capability or function that must be delivered by a system component or components. A functional requirement is a specific business need or behavior as seen by an external user of the system.

A requirement is document ,it is used for how to develop the project.A business analyst collect all requirement documents keep into one order,that is called Srs,Frs,Brs
Srs:Software requirement specification
Brs:business requirement specification
Frs:Functional requirement specification

Requriement is the basic when the project or product is to be developed. It shows about what is to be needed and what is to be not needed in project or product. Taking into consideration of requirement it's easy to define the objectives, plan, develop and test.
