Hello all,
Before starting a performance test what are all the things should we collect. Like
1.Architecture
2.Number of servers/clients
3.Hardware configuration
...

What more we canb include in this list?

Hi Raj,

Basically we have to make sure that the Test Envi. is exact replica of the Production Envi.  In case, we have a downscaled replica, then we need to make sure of the acceptance criteria for the various metrics(eg..response times)...

Eg: Say Prod App Server uses - 8 CPU's but Test Envi uses only 2 CPU's.  Then if the expected response time in Prod Envi <1 sec , then..you need to take appropriate no in Test Envi(obviously it'll be more b'coz of h/w config)

Apart from this..you might have to concentrate on Bandwidth factor as well

Hope this info is useful......Plz let me know if you have any more ideas....

On top of the list that you mentioned, I collected the following:

1. Number of concurrent users
2. The load model (behavior)
3. Activities that the users performed (for scripting).
4. Exit criteria for the test (Transaction response time vs system utilization)
