We have a client - server application(non web based). In which the client is installed in a user desktop and from server the client will be visible through the network neighbor hood and can be registered(added) from server.  Communication between client and server is through SNMP.

Once the  client is registered with the  server , we can configure what kind of events to be collected from the agent and schedule the same. As per the schedule and configuration the client will send the events( file operations etc)

Now, we would like to do load/performance test the server with huge number of clients(say 500). It is not a typical GUI based client application. The desktop user will not have any control on the client installed.

Installed client service(which is tagged to system level) simply collects the data in the background and sends to the server without disturbing the user. We would need to simulate how the  server performs when large number agents sends events in huge volumes.

So, when we create virtual hosts all of them should be visible to server in its network neighborhood.   Please suggest the best feasible approach for this kind of application.
