Developer with 4-6 years experience of C, C++ and / or Java and the development / software build environments on Solaris, Linux, Windows and VMS. Able to work independently to setup build environments for projects of all sizes. Must have experience with source control tools and software configuration management systems. May lead and direct the work of others. Must have the ability to keep up with changing methodologies and technologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Setup, document, and manage the build procedures for client's online applications.
2. Administer the source control systems.
3. Perform software builds for all QA and production software releases.
4. Develop, document, and manage tools and procedures to deploy software into QA and production environments.
5. Perform integration testing to verify builds.
6. Works closely with the QA team to ensure final builds are up to organizational standards.
7. Co-ordinate builds and deployments with project teams and the Configuration Manager.
8. Participate with code reviews and walkthroughs.
9. Analyze and correct defects in the build and deployment procedures, with very limited guidance from Technical Lead.
10. Execute Systems Engineering processes and procedures using client's standards, guidelines and templates.
11. Contribute to Systems Engineering process improvement initiatives.

Desired Candidate Profile

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

* Degree in Computer Science or equivalent; Master's degree or advanced, relevant technical training
* 4+ years experience in system development, and at least 2 years experience in a release engineering role.
* Thorough understanding of RUP systems development methodology; able to mentor less experienced staff in the use of the methodology.
* Thorough understanding of configuration management methods; able to mentor less experienced staff in the use of these methods.
* Thorough understanding of source control methodology and have management experience with tools such as CVS, PVCS, Subversion, Visual Source Safe, ClearCase, and CMS; able to mentor less experienced staff in the use of these methods.
* Thorough understanding of software builds tools such as ant, maven, MMS, CruiseControl, etc.; able to mentor less experienced staff in the use of these utilities.
* Thorough understanding of the software deployment process; able to mentor less experienced staff in the use of these methods.
* Thorough understanding of the deployment environment, in particular Apache, Tomcat, IIS, Netscape, and WebLogic web servers and the Ice middleware.
* Experience with Solaris, Linux, Windows, and VMS operating systems.
Knowledge of databases e.g. Oracle, DB2, Sybase, MySQL, etc. is highly desirable.

WORKING CONDITIONS

# - Onsite travel required.
