What is the advantages for choosing the multiple protocols in Load Runner?

Suppose u want 2 or more protocols to be included for recording the script.for example the scenario is web based where it interacts with word document.so u can choose WEBHTML/HTTP protocol + COM/DCOM and record the script.when u replay the script it shuld work fine.
