Test Strategy is nothing but required approach to meet the quality standards either in the terms of quality or testing 
process.

The Basic Structure that has to be followed for developing any Software/project including Testing process is called as Testing Methodology.

If you are new in Test automation then I would suggest to go for Mercury test tools say QTP, Loadrunner and Quality Center. They all come out with some good tutorials which will give you a good jump start.
