2. JAVA based components will be running on  Linux machine?
3. Input of the test data is in XML format.i.e it need to support for the namespace also.
4. Performance Test need to be carried out using the tool?
5. Posting of the XML to the components which are running on tomCat server?

Hi,
I would suggest SeleniumRC and Python. It depends what tool (programming language) you like the most. You can use SeleniumRC on either Windows or Linux platform. Both Selenium and Python are open source, so the way of usage them depends only on your imagination.

Good luck!

As far as I know Ruby/Watir  run tests on IE, witch is obviously not Linux platform. I heard that guys put some effort to port Watir on Firefox.
