TestDirector’s
new web based architecture provides a secure repository with access via
web browser only for ordinary users. Worldwide access can be
administered via company intranet, thus allowing the system to be
classified as a closed system, with access controlled fully by the
user. At the same time, company-wide access is available to test
documents such as test cases, test runs and defect reports. This
removes the constraints imposed by a paper-based system, especially for
global computer system rollout applications. In addition to the
database, a file repository of supporting documents such as attachments
and Automated test components is held on the web server which prevents
ordinary user access other than via the TestDirector web interface,
which can then be controlled by user permissions.
