Running Automated Tests

You can execute automated tests on your own computer (locally), or on multiple remote hosts. The Test Execution window enables you to control test execution and manage hosts. You can execute a single test, or launch an entire batch of tests.

•Track Defects

When testing an application, your goal is to locate and repair any defects before the software is deployed. TestDirector enables you to report new defects and track their progress. Defects can be detected and reported by software developers, testers, and
end users during all stages of the testing process.

When a defect is detected in the software:

Send a defect report to the TestDirector database.

A quality assurance or project manager reviews the defect, determines a repair priority, and assigns it to a development team to repair the open defect.

Test a new build of the application to make sure that the defect is corrected. If the defect does not reoccur, the quality assurance or project manager updates the defect status.

Generate reports and graphs to determine the current quality level of
the application and to track the process of repairs.
