Hi,

Emulator for PPC and Mobile phones are good to look at the features of the application but the application for ppc will not give you correct ppc client functionality until tested with real device. Performance of PPC application can be well judged on real device as simulator are quite fast in response than the ppc.

But, if you can not test with all the devices than simulators are good way to check atleast the behavior on actual device but not in terms of performance and memory constaints of ppc.
