         Software Engineer (API and CLI Testing, Storage, UNIX) 

        Job Description
          Job Description:

Team member to design, develop, document, and implement regression
tests for Solutions Enabler. This entails writing/debugging test
automation in C and Perl using EMC's multi-platform application
programming interface together with its command-line interface for
managing the Symmetrix. The focus is on test development and automation
as well as running the automated test suits on designated hardware
against the QA builds and reviewing their result. This requires
coordinating with release engineering and lab services together with
the posting of any potential product defects, due to test failures, to
a home-grown problem reporting system. Required is to proactively
partnering with Solutions Enabler developers and QA engineers to
promote quality in every phase of the product life cycle. Often
requires working in a reactive mode, supporting and adjusting to
unplanned on-demand testing scenarios and configurations.

       Solid grasp of software engineering principles including QA processes and procedures is must.        

Candidate must have strong automated regression testing experience on both UNIX and Windows operating system platforms

Having strong working experience with at least two of the five industry
standard databases on multiple operating system platforms, including
Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, Informix, and DB2/UDB, is a plus 

Having strong working experience with both UNIX and Windows file
systems, including UFS, NFS, JFS, VxFS, AdvFS, and NTFS, is also a plus

Having strong experience working with Volume Managers  

        Proven ability to deliver high quality portable C and Perl code 

        API and CLI testing experience is required

        Ability to work effectively in fast paced multi-team test development environment

General knowledge of Enterprise Storage Software is must

        Effective verbal and written communication skills

        Excellent cross-platform analysis and troubleshooting ability

        Strong design and system level software development experience on both Windows and UNIX 

        Desired Profile 
          Desirable Skill

        Client/Server testing experience welcomed

        Storage Systems experience, particularly with EMC Symmetrix and CLARiiON, Compaq StorageWorks, and HDS is a plus

Working knowledge of Rational's PureCoverage or equivalent

        Ability to work effectively in both reactive and proactive modes 

        Proven ability to develop and execute complex test scenarios within multi-platform environments

Education/Experience:

Candidate should have B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech or MCA
